User Guide

Everything you need to know about using ChainPress as a submitter, curator, or token holder.

Submitting a Press Release

The Submit page is where you create and publish press releases. The process involves three steps:

Step 1: Fill in the Details

  • Title — A clear, descriptive title for your press release
  • Category — Select from: Technology, Finance, Startup, DeFi, NFT, Gaming, or AI
  • Tags — Comma-separated keywords for discoverability
  • Content — Your press release written in Markdown (live preview available)

Step 2: Choose a Tier

ChainPress offers three submission tiers with different requirements:

  • Free — No fee, requires a NEWS stake (returned on approval)
  • Verified — Small fee required, no stake, faster curation process
  • Premium — Fee + stake, highest visibility and priority curation

Step 3: Submit On-Chain

  1. Your content is uploaded to Arweave (permanent storage)
  2. A content hash (SHA-256) is computed in your browser
  3. You sign a transaction to call submitPR() on the PRSubmission contract
  4. Confirm the transaction in your wallet
  5. Your press release enters the PendingCuration state

You need sufficient NEWS tokens and testnet AVAX (for gas) to submit. Check your balances on the Dashboard.

Browsing Press Releases

The Browse page shows all press releases with filtering and search:

  • Filter by state — All, PendingCuration, Approved, Flagged, Rejected
  • Filter by category — Narrow to a specific topic
  • Sort — Newest, oldest, or by quality score
  • Search — Find press releases by keyword

Click on any press release to view the full content, metadata, and curation status.

Press Release States

Each press release follows a state machine lifecycle:

  • PendingCuration — Awaiting votes from curators
  • Approved — Passed curation threshold, publicly visible
  • Rejected — Failed to meet the approval threshold
  • Flagged — Flagged by a curator for review (requires re-vote)
  • Removed — Removed by curators (content no longer displayed)

Becoming a Curator

Curators are community members who vote on press release quality. To become a curator:

  1. Go to the Curate page
  2. Ensure you have at least 500 NEWS tokens in your wallet
  3. Click Apply as Curator and confirm the transaction
  4. Wait for the platform owner to approve your application
  5. Once approved, your status changes to Active

Voting on Press Releases

Active curators can vote on any press release in the PendingCuration or Flagged state:

  • Open a press release and click Approve or Reject
  • Each PR requires a configurable threshold of approval votes
  • Once the threshold is reached, anyone can Finalize Curation
  • Curators earn reputation points for voting on the winning side

Curator Rewards

Active curators earn rewards from the platform fee pool. Claim your rewards from the Curate page.

Dashboard & Staking

The Dashboard is your personal hub for managing tokens and tracking activity:

Token Balances

  • NEWS Balance — Your total NEWS token balance
  • Staked Amount — NEWS tokens currently staked
  • Staking Rewards — Accumulated staking rewards (claimable)

Staking

Stake your NEWS tokens to earn a share of platform fees distributed to the staking pool:

  1. Enter the amount and click Stake
  2. Confirm the approval and stake transactions
  3. Rewards accumulate automatically based on your share of the total stake

Unstaking

Unstaking is a two-step process with a 7-day cooldown:

  1. Click Request Unstake and specify the amount
  2. Wait for the 7-day cooldown period
  3. Click Claim Unstake to receive your tokens

The Dashboard shows the cooldown countdown timer for active unstake requests.

Curator Leaderboard

The Curators page shows all curators ranked by reputation score. Active curators with higher reputation scores have more influence in the curation process. The top 3 curators are highlighted with trophy and medal badges.
